Agriculture Education

Agriculture Education courses at Stanwood High School provide students with the opportunity to explore and develop skills used in many industries.  Through hands on, application based instruction these courses allow students to learn in an environment that closely resembles the world of work.  Agriculture Education is not just about farming.   We offer courses in Agriculture Science (Applied Science), Horticulture, Animal & Veterinary Science, Natural Resources, and Mechanical Technology (welding, machining, small gas engines, etc). 


Science Explorations:

Learn about physical and earth science in a hands-on setting with real world applications.

Animal & Veterinary Science:

Animal Science

Learn biology with an emphasis on the science of the animal through hands on application to the real world.

Veterinary Science

An activity driven course, which offers students the opportunity to explore veterinary science with an emphasis on technical skills.

Horticulture, Greenhouse, Landscaping, & Plant Science:

HORTICULTURE (Plant Science)   
Learn Biology as you apply classroom learning to the real world – grow plants and learn the science behind them. 

Landscape & Nursery Production    

Learn to construct landscapes & produces plants in a production environment.

Floriculture & Greenhouse    

Build floral design skills and learn to work in and manage a greenhouse to produce plants.

Mechanical Technology:

Ag Mechanics (Mech Tech)  

A 2 year program to learn to work with metal, electricity, small gas engines, and more. 

Natural Resources

Natural Resources

Work and play indoors and out as you learn to restore wetlands, identify plant parts and processes.  Prepare for outdoor careers.
