SKILLS GAP

Stanwood-Camano School District

Career & Technical Education

Advisory committees support the delivery of the curriculum content and the course sequence for the CTE courses offered within the Stanwood-Camano School District. Each committee member is provided copies for review of the frameworks.  Courses have planned learning experiences that begin with exploration of career options; support academic and technical skills; and enables the student to achieve high academic standards, and leadership opportunities which lead to high skill, high wage employment preparation, and advanced and continuing education.

CTE courses in the Stanwood-Camano School District reflect the diversity of the region and state employment trends.

Currently in Snohomish County the most important and yet deficient skills needed by employers are: technical competency, communication skills, positive attitude, ability to work independently, follow directions and problem solving.

CTE Programs in Stanwood-Camano School District utilize employment data and trends as developed by the Workforce Development Council and WorkSource of Snohomish County.  A major contributor to the skills gap data/information is the Snohomish County Blueprint 2015 (Blueprint 2015), which is a partnership of Snohomish County government, educational institutions, and workforce and economic development organizations aiming to develop a collaborative, comprehensive approach that unifies education, workforce, and economic development in Snohomish County. The Partnership fosters economic vitality in Snohomish County by retaining and attracting jobs in nine key industry clusters (clusters) which are targeted for economic development.

The SCSD CTE Advisory Committees utilize the following data points for determining program support and approvals:
